Barren, void, unending. A place no civilized creature should ever call home and the perfect place for the Rhundavi to name the Land of Exiles. An all-encompassing desert covering the vast majority of E’Lin’s landscape. Bordered in the west by the Ptolech Mountains, the north by Horizon’s End and the Edge of E’Lin, stretching an unfathomable distance to the west, and falling off into an unknown southern neighbor via The Falling Sands.

Translated “Our Life” in an ancient tongue, Ankshalanu is the center of the entire E’Lin civilization. The name given to the physical Oasis found both on and beneath the surface of the desert, circled by the 3 settlements: Twelve Tents, Kya-Delphi, and Attle. Beneath the visible Oasis is the most sacred site in all E’Lin, an enormous underground chamber where the waters form a hidden oasis used today mostly for religious rituals with its main entrance found in Kya-Delphi.

The original settlement that criminal refugees formed 4 generations ago that would eventually grow into the United Pyra Oasis of today. Named for its original twelve leaders, Twelve Tents is now the center of entertainment for the Oasis, thanks mainly to the Nautisphere. Notorious throughout E’Lin as the most violent and unlawful civilized area, staying most true to their ancestors ways when E'Lin was simply known as the Land of Exiles.

Kya-Delphi is the settlement taking the greatest strides towards civilizing E’Lin entirely. Citizens focus these efforts by attempting to expand the worship of Pholtus, the Sun God of Light and Order, and mapping navigable trade routes throughout E’Lin. Kya-Delphians pride themselves on being descendants of the founders of their settlement: Kya, an oracle of Pholtus, and Delphi, a famed cartographer thought to have traveled more of E’Lin Undending than any other soul.

The United Pyra Oasis has no organized military, but if there were ever a need for one then Attle would be recruitment headquarters. A settlement that thrives on competition, the citizens here have harnessed their rough and infamous ancestry and treat it as a warrior’s bloodline. They seek out the thrills of the E’Lin landscape from the Falling Sands to Horizon’s End, and create adventure in their backyard with rock climbing, cliff diving and much more.

In the midst of the unrelenting desert that covers the Elin landscape there are very few reliefs from the scorching heat. The giant, shady palms found in this Sea are second best only to Ankhshalanu in providing that much needed shelter. The Kivuli tribe that build their village high in these palms connect their homes with ladders and hanging bridges creating the biggest settlement outside of the United Pyra Oasis.

Jagged peaks connected by narrow ridges and separated by treacherous chasms provide a perilous border to E’Lin Unending’s western border. The Ptolech Mountains are as relentless as the desert of E’Lin is unending. Even though the geographic features are so drastically different between the desert and these mountains the threat of vicious monsters, the unyielding heat, and the dramatic elevation changes create an impassible barrier between E’Lin and the Rhundavi Kingdom.

An enormous gateway carved out of a cliffside on the edge of the Ptolech Mountains. Sentinels from the Rhundavi Kingdom of Elves are eternally stationed here protecting the only safely travelable passage between E’Lin and Rhundavi. Built to be impenetrable by the Rhundavi, the giant platinum portcullis is still rarely raised even though E’Lin is recognized today as more than just the Land of Exiles.

The Southern entrance to the kingdom of the Ptolech dwarves deep within the mountains, the only opening through which the dwarves receive visitors. Outsiders describe the surreal experience of forgetting they’re underground with the wealth of light reflecting from the untapped ore, flaming lanterns and the river of lava all combined. The Dwarves of Ptolech relish in their wealth, but are also skillful traders who deal well with the United Pyra Oasis while completely shunning the Rhundavi.

Myth tells a tale of these twin volcanoes being born from the wrath of the Flame Giant God Surtur. It is told that a maiden oracle denied his advances, but he had one final desperate plea to win her heart. He displayed his great power by blasting the peak of a nearby mountain, but the eruption rained down a fatal fire upon his prize. In his mourning he sobbed tears of flame that created the vast river of lava that lies beneath the Ptolech Mountains. Today the maiden’s peak and volcano at the southern tip of the mountains are known as the Sons of Surtur.

Known mostly as a thrill seeker’s destination, the Falling Sands create the southern border for E’Lin’s landscape. The sands of E’Lin Unending reach the southernmost precipice of the desert and fall off into bottomless depths. Home to peculiar creatures that seem to defy gravity by swimming through the cascading sands. Small settlements dot the border thriving on the hunting of these creatures, with their most successful hunters being the daredevils that cliff dive in a variety of creative ways.

Home to the Platinum Pyrite Flats, Horizon’s End is a reprieve from the endless sand dunes in the northernmost region of E’Lin. As you approach the flats from the south it appears to the eye that the horizon is drawing nearer and nearer thus the name. An unyielding source of intense heat during daylight the flats are unapproachable during the day, but when the sun goes down a crowd can always be found. From the indescribable reflection of the heavens upon the surface to the adrenaline rush of the Fool’s End there is allure here for many of E’Lin’s own.

E’Lin’s last stronghold. The closest civilized point to the Edge. Being named a guardian of this sentinel is a title that garnishes reverence throughout E’Lin. Defenders of the AggroKrag are fierce, steadfast, yet tormented. Their charge is to hold fast against the threats that appear from the Edge and to ensure the abominations that arise remain an invisible threat for the citizens of E’Lin.

A realm lies beyond. Through the fog, deep into the darkness looms a hidden passage. A passage to the depths of the underdark? An entrance to a demonic realm? A gateway to an unknown civilization? No E’Lin citizen dares to search for answers to these questions much further than the Edge, a literal drop-off to the mystery beyond. Secrets from this darkness have emerged in the past, but only in hushed whispers are these moments spoke of.
